Textron Upbeat About Business Jet Market, Legacy 500 for Jackie Chan, Eclipse SE Jet Announced, Business Jet Cabin Tech 2015

Textron Bullish on Business Jet Market in North America

Textron chairman and CEO Scott Donnelly is optimistic about the outlook for Textron Aviation, as the dominant North American business jet market remains “fairly strong,” he said this morning during a second-quarter investor conference call. Meanwhile, Donnelly categorized the business jet market in Russia and China as “weak” and said that Latin America and Europe are “very challenging.”

During the quarter, revenues at Textron Aviation slid $59 million year-over-year, to $1.124 billion, due to fewer deliveries of King Airs and jet mix. However, it did log a quarterly profit of $88 million, up $60 million from a year ago, due to improved performance and efficiencies in the integration of Beechcraft and Cessna.

Embraer readies first Chinese-registered Legacy 500 for Jackie Chan

Embraer secured Chinese validation for the Legacy 500 on 24 July and is now preparing to deliver the first midsize business jet to Chinese launch customer and ambassador of its executive jets division, Jackie Chan.

The 10-seat twinjet entered service late last year and Embraer had shipped 14 of the type by the end of the second quarter, according to Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database.

While the USA is, and will continue to be the largest market for the Legacy 500, Embraer expects the aircraft to be popular in China, despite a preference for long-range and large cabin types in the country until now.

The Dishwashair, as the manufacturers call it, can clean a load of dishes in just six minutes using three liters of water. That’s right, cabin crews, no more dishpan hands!

The dishwasher fits standard galleys and connects to the aircraft’s freshwater, waste-water and vacuum systems. With long-haul business jets now capable of 14-hour flights, the dishwasher may take up less room than you’d need to carry enough clean plates, silverware and glasses for two to three meals for everyone onboard.
